There is so much destruction. My family knows the extent. God help us all.

About 1 1/2 years ago, my daughter and I decided we wanted another dog. My dog had been with me for a long time. She is now almost thirteen years old. So, we went in search of some great orphan who needed a home.

My sister just happened to be at the pet store buying who-knows-what when she peeked at the pups the rescue group had in their travel kennel. There were a number of pups from the same litter in there that were absolutely adorable. However, as is usually the case, there was that one. Yes, this was my new baby. He was sweet but shy. We were told he was a "boxer-mix" which I am still doubting to this day. I just don't see it!

We take this pup home and he actually gets along very well with my old lady who is already there. In fact, she started playing a little like she did when she was younger. All of a sudden, she was interested in toys and cuddling! It was very similar to getting two new dogs. Of course, his worms and other nasties from the shelter were a little gross, but we took care of all that in no time.

He is a little crazy now. Forget about inviting someone into our home. He bites and barks like a mad dog. This is great for strangers who come knocking, but I would like friends over occasionally without all the noise. I've become a big fan of the Dog Whisperer in my search for some help for us.

Why the story about my crazy pup? Well, I was reading this morning about the dog in Australia who sat barking by his owner's body following a car accident. The dog just sat and barked until someone finally found them two days later. Wow. I started wondering if my crazy dog would ever do something like this. Then I stopped wondering and started praying that nothing would ever happen like this!

I love my dog despite whatever mental problems he seems to have. He's renewed like in my older dog, brought joy to my daughter, and makes me feel safe. Although I have given serious thought to returning him to the shelter, I just can not bring myself to let him go.

Okay, so I went swimming last week with a friend. We were having a very nice time relaxing by the pool. It was so delightful that I did not notice how my skin was beginning to take on a sweetly pink glow. Later that night I noticed how the lovely pink was turning into an obnoxious and painful red.

Lobster

Oh yes, I was turning into a lobster!!!

So, this was last Wednesday. It is now Monday. I am finally to the point that my skin is peeling. While the pain is gone, I am now an itchy mess of a gal. I need to have a refreshing spa visit to exfoliate the dead skin.

Woman Receiving Facial at Spa

That is so completely disgusting to tell perfect strangers, but I am not concerned with your opinions about my rantings!!! I would love some other help though...

So, I would love some at-home tips since I have exhausted my funds for quite some time. Help! I want some fantastic sugar scrub or some other wonderful recipe. Of course, there is still some slight pain left from the burn, but I am itchier than I am in pain.

What do I do???

Wow! It's been a long time since I wrote anything here. I have been busy, but I am not sure what I've been doing. Okay, so I do know. I am totally hooked on this show on the National Geographic Channel called Lockdown. It's all about different prisons.

California State Prisons Face Overcrowding Issues

I love this show! I don't know what it is about watching people in a prison and hearing about their crimes that interests me. I remember when I was younger, my sister and I had a short-lived love for true-crime books. I suppose it is similar to my grandmother watching all of her crime scene shows and such. If you haven't seen it, I recommend watching it. The stories are sad, interesting, and sometimes uplifting. I have seen men released after being in prison longer than I've been alive. I have watched women dealing with giving birth in prison and reaching out to children they might lose. Stories about gang relations and how so many are reluctant to give up those ties because they will die if they do. This is a totally different world than mine. I love taking a peek inside.

Contest

Oh yeah, and since I am so nice, you should vote for me. I am new to this blogging bit, and I don't think I have any readers yet, but those of you not reading can vote!

Wallflower

I am very shy. I am the kind of shy person that comes across as being really snotty and bitchy. I am not a really mean person when you get to know me, but I make it pretty hard for people to get there.

So, I was at this party on Saturday. There was a new girl there with her husband (?). Okay, strike 1 against her for being new. All of us gals went upstairs so the four of us in the band (did I mention I am in a band?) could play around a bit. We actually have a guy in the band, but since he was out of town we were not really practicing. At any rate, the new girl came with us. Yuck. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with her. However, I am a little shy! Of course, the other gals made me comfortable. Oh yeah, so did the beer. We were all getting along nicely somehow.

At one point we all head back downstairs to refill our cups and I find new-girl talking to her man. He was asking if we let her play guitar and sing. Apparently new-girl has quite a voice and guitar skills. She never said a word! I'm not sure this was deceit, but in my suspicious mind it was! This was strike 2 against new-girl. So, I of course dropped in the conversation because by now I was feeling feisty and not so shy. I said my sarcastic comment and went on to find the girls. The house is quite large, but it is open and eventually the rooms open into each other. New-girl and man were in the other room again talking about her skills when I happened upon the other gals. Of course, I nosed into their conversation again. Remember that I am shy and have lacking social skills. Or else I was drinking too much. Everyone laughed about it though. This was a good point for new-girl in my book.

Everyone in the party came upstairs and we all rocked out for a little bit. New-girl never played guitar or sang a single note. Sissy. I hope she doesn't come back. That would be strike 3 for her.

I know, I know... I am not the nicest person ever. I don't like change. I guess at some point everyone is the new person. That doesn't mean I have to like her though. I think she made it even worse by not doing something to make me not like her.

My Current Love!

Okay, so I live in sultry (sultry= humid to those cities that are not quite as sexy and alluring as mine) Savannah. This time of year is a killer for my hair. Between the heat and the humidity, it rarely keeps its style. I was almost to the point of just saying "forget it" when my very best friend introduced my current love. Yes, a hair product that actually works in the humidity without killing my hair! John Frieda's Weather Works Style Sealant Creme is the BEST product ever created! (I promise I do not work for this company!) After washing my hair, I put about a dime sized amount in my hands, rub them together, and rub it in my damp hair. I can style it any way I choose and it stays that way! Now, my hair is only chin-length and thick but super-fine. It falls out of style fairly easily. It is also super straight except in humidity- then the ends kind of curl up a bit and flip outwards. Sometimes it is nice, but usually I just get irritated.

So, here's the link to the website where you can find more info. It works!!! Also, the photo is courtesy of the same.

I strongly encourage anyone with humidity problems to check it out! My hair stays shiny and straight and looking the best!
